Lakota Summer Institute Online
Thank you for your interest in the Lakota Summer Institute Online! Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus, we will be offering this year’s summer institute online! Below are some of the requirements to ensure the best learning experience possible.
Requirements for Virtual learning:
- Laptop/computer (students are required to have a laptop/computer to participate in the virtual event)
- Webcam
- Students are required to use a Gmail account to access Google Docs. If you do not have a Gmail account please use this link to create one.
- Quiet space to minimize noise and distractions
- Laptop/Computer volume turned all the way up
- A headset with a microphone (noise canceling headphones and separate microphone are also okay)
- Download Adobe Acrobat Reader to open PDFs used during class
- Please choose “Download Acrobat Reader” for a free download
- Download Adobe Flash Player for media playbacks
- Please choose “Download Flash Player” for a free download
- Download Lakota Keyboard and the desktop version of the Lakota Dictionary app prior to the event here.
- Good internet speed to participate during the course. (Please test your internet speeds by googling “internet speed test”)
- Recommended minimum download speeds of 30+ Mbps
- Recommended minimum upload speeds of 8+ Mbps
- Though the connection will work with slower speeds than those listed, we cannot guarantee a high quality connection at lower speeds.
