Courtney Yellow Fat (Hunkpapa) has taught Lakota language at Standing Rock High School and Middle School for 15 years. He has been a renowned traditional singer with Lakota Thunder for 20 years. He was a musician and played Grandfather Turtle in the 2012 LSI production of Iktómi Wičhítegleǧa Siŋté Waŋ Úŋ (Iktomi Wears A Raccoon Tail), a stage play performed entirely in Lakota. He teaches Intensive Lakota at LSI.
