Lodging

  • There are a number of accommodation options available for students attending the Lakota Summer Institute from out of town.

    Hotel

    The nearest accommodation to Sitting Bull College is the Prairie Knights Casino and Resort, located 46 miles south of Bismarck-Mandan and 12 miles north of Fort Yates on Hwy 1806. We have pre-booked 40 rooms at a special discounted rate of $50 per night. Students wishing to take advantage of this offer must contact the resort directly on 1-800-425-8277 ext. 7704 to make their reservation.

    Rooms are available either with two queen sized beds or one king sized bed, and every room is beautifully appointed in Native American decor. All rooms are equipped with a mini safe for valuables and satellite television with premium channels. Adjoining and handicap accessible rooms are also available. No pets allowed.

    Camping

    Prairie Knights Casino and Resort has a marina 5 miles east of the hotel on the banks of the Missouri River. RV parking lots are available for $15 per night and tent pitches for $10 per night.  They have electrical hookups (220/30-50 amps) and access to fresh water and a dumping station, as well as picnic tables, a fish cleaning station and showers. Guests do not have access to the hotel swimming pool or showers, fitness room and/or ice vending machines, but they do have access to the coin-operated laundry machines.

    There are also RV parking lots on the south side of the casino parking lot for $15 per night. Again, they have electrical hookups (220/30-50 amps) and access to fresh water and a dumping station. Guests do not have access to the hotel swimming pool or showers, fitness room and/or ice vending machines, but they do have access to the coin-operated laundry machines.

    Efficiency apartment

    Sitting Bull College has a small number of efficiency apartments on campus. There are four single rooms in each apartment, each with a twin bed, wardrobe and small desk. Each apartment has a shared common area, bathroom and kitchen, with a medium size refrigerator, 2 counter top electric burners, microwave and dining table. There is no cooking, tableware or bedding items in the rooms, with the exception of the microwave.

    Single rooms are $25 per night. There is also a $100 non-refundable application fee to stay in the efficiency units, plus a $20 federal background check fee and, for enrolled members, a $25 tribal background check fee. The number of rooms is very limited and they are offered on a first-come-first-served basis.
